SPRING 2013 MEN’S FASHION REVIEW
Houston, TX (February 28, 2013) —“With warmer temperatures right around the corner, it’s the perfect time for men to discover great new ways to update their wardrobes,” says Eric Jennings, VP Fashion Director, Men’s & Home for Saks Fifth Avenue. “Thankfully the Spring 2013 runways were full of fresh new colors and distinctive styles.”
Three distinct attitudes dominate the Spring 2013 season at Saks:
Reverence for wanderlust is a common thread that weaves together this springtime look. Saks will offer the Noble Nomad an assortment of soft-washed fabrics in a dusty palette, crafted for both city- and outdoor-wear. This nature-inspired trend is enriched with botanical and geometric prints, ombré dyes and camouflage, as well safari jackets and relaxed accessories like gauzy linen scarves, leather bracelets and suede drivers in soft, muted colors.
This sartorial sensibility draws upon a style reminiscent of The Great Gatsby, but with a 21st century twist. How would the modern-day Jay Gatsby take on the Roaring 2000s? With slim tailoring for party peacocking, high blue fabrications, white trousers, pop-colored footwear, microgeometric prints and lapel accents.
This look-at-me trend is inspired by a ‘work hard, play hard’ mindset, which, sartorially speaking, translates to a bright-and-bold look suitable for both daytime and after hours. Key pieces include show-stopping party jackets and brightly colored trousers paired with tropical prints, bold paisleys, lustrous statement jewelry and dressy sneakers.
For Spring 2013, Saks Fifth Avenue will highlight these key items of the season online, in store and in catalog:
- Lapel Accents
Add a dash of old-world class—simply attach one onto your jacket’s lapel. Look for statement accents from Hook + Albert, who collaborated with Saks to create exclusive lapel styles, as well as Tateossian and Charvet.
- Aquatic Blues
Adriatic aquamarines and Caribbean cobalts are the go-to colors of the season. Find aquatic blues at Saks from almost every brand, including Elie Tahari, Salvatore Ferragamo, Ralph Lauren Black Label, Canali, Burberry, Saks Fifth Avenue Men’s Collection, Prada and Walkover.
- Floral & Geometric Prints
Vivid floral patterns and sharp geometrics add a new dimension to our woven shirt offerings. Both classic and contemporary designers will offer great statement pieces, including Boss Orange, Robert Friedman, Sand, Elie Tahari, Etro, Versace, Canali, and two new brands we’ve picked for spring: Liberty of London and Craft Market.
- Slipper Shoes
Classic slip-ons stay out past their bedtime with edgy embellishments and brazen motifs from Jimmy Choo, Alexander McQueen, Del Toro and Louis Leeman. Look for both showstoppers and casual, colorful pairs.
- Dressy Sneakers
Sneakers get swanky with megawatt metals and sartorial shine; look for fresh renditions from Giuseppe Zanotti, Viktor + Rolf, Jimmy Choo, DSquared2, Alexander McQueen, Gucci, Lanvin and Prada.
