I am learning that there is talent overflowing in and around Houston Texas. Recently I attended Young Houston Magazine's Spring 2014 magazine release event. It was pretty cool and I was able to meet and learn about new talent within the Houston fashion and entertainment industry. Here are a few images from that night. Within the next few weeks you will see some of the unique work of one of the designers who was actually featured during this event.
Yes, that's a cake.
A local Houston brand featured their bow ties during the runway show.
Enid Almanza (below) who's work is featured above on the cover, networked wearing his detailed head piece during a short break.
|There was poetry, music, and art work featured that night. I Am Justified , a local Christian rapper (left, wearing black & gold), was one of the featured performers.|
Other than myself, I happened to see a couple of Houston's fashion bloggers. David Rochez (right wearing orange) and Samuel Thompson (left).
Sky Trues brightened the room with their creative custom hand painted eyewear.
Designer of Sky Trues, George Phelp's (right), "the Picasso of frames," was also featured during the runway show.
The Spring edition of the magazine featured dual front covers. Here is the other. Ashton Miyako was one of the designers who represented for the ladies. One of my fave looks is above (right).
The crowd came and packed the place in support of the magazine's release. Do you remember JT? He was there supporting Young Houston Magazine also.
At the end of the event we were all able to walk around and patronize local Houston businesses and a few of the designers featured that night. Overall I enjoyed myself and look forward to the next event and issue.
