BLOGGER RECAP: Fashion Houston FH5 Opening Night

Fashion Houston was definitely a success this past week! Everything from the red carpet to the designers was purely amazing. Alexis Monsanto was the first designer to open this fashionable week. He gave a great show! At the end there was a “queen and king” look that no one expected. The dresses and head pieces on the models complimented each other. He was the perfect designer to open the week.

The second designer for Fashion Houston was Amy Smilovic who designs for Tibi. The collection was fairly minimal and featured neutral colors, but there was the occasional pop of color, (like a green outfit). The show provided the “cuteness” for the evening, by adding a sense of youthfulness to opening night of Fashion Houston.

Jonathan Blake is a Houston based designer who made all Houstonians proud (I know I was!). His designs were so elegant! I felt like I was in a fairy tale with all of the pastel colors walking the runway. His style was sophisticated and stylish; something every girl needs. After seeing his designs, I knew I would definitely visit his showroom here in Houston. The models were styled in a way that made me feel that I could wear the clothes on regular basis.

During the Little Black Dress Designer event, the final ten contestants from the 6th Season of LBDD earlier this year presented their original LBDs on models and then modified versions of their garments designed for their assigned muses. Each designer designed a little black dress worn by various muses (Houston women who know what they want out of clothes) of all ages. Personally, I liked the this part of the show because it showed that women any age can still be fashionable and rock it. At the end, each designer walked with their model and the muse.

This was one of my favorite fashion shows! It was unexpected and beautiful. The amount of detail on each Sameera Faridi design was amazing. The colors and flashiness was a perfect mix and temperament. Looking at her dresses made me want to dress up everyday! During the show jaws dropped  all around me. We could see all of the details and could only imagine the amount of work that went into each look. Even the men's clothing was interesting because it was also very detailed.

Rap Artists and handsome men walking the runway? Yes, please! This was a great way to close the first night of Fashion Houston. The high energy performance of Jadakiss during the Grungy Gentleman show, had everyone jumping in the audience. Everyone was able to enjoy the music, the clothes and of course the handsome gentleman.  Some of the models for the show were none other than Soccer Players Michael Chabala, Euan Holden and ANTM alums, Don Benjamin and Will Jardell.

The first night of Fashion Houston was perfect! And just think that was only night one! Come back this week to read all of my recaps from Fashion Houston.
