Movement 50 (MVMT50) continues to bring diversity to SXSW Interactive

AUSTIN, Texas – MVMT50 (Movement 50) is excited to participate in this year's SXSW Interactive Festival. In 2015, we bring you a variety of programming that will engage, inform and inspire. Our undying vision is to be the hub for African Americans interested in innovation, collaboration, and networking during your SXSW experience.  We firmly believe the next 50 years of civil rights will be influenced by the hallmarks of innovation and creativity that drives technological advancements.

 And one of the best places to do this is at the SXSW Interactive Festival which has been dubbed the "most important interactive in the world," by CNET.

What to expect during SXSW Interactive 2015?

March 13 | 6-10p | Welcome Reception | Carver Museum
The SXSW Interactive kick-off event! A mixer to mingle, network, have a few drinks, and h'ors devours.  Not to mention live music, one of the highlights of being in Austin, Texas.  This opening reception is a free event- if you haven't gotten your SXSW badge, no worries.  It's not required!

March 13 | Top Black Innovators of 2014
During the welcoming reception, 10 finalist will be awarded as the Top Black Innovators of 2014.  Among the list are leaders and visionaries who've made an impact by fostering disruptive innovation in technology-related industries, products and services.

March 14 | 7-10p | Innovators Dinner | CRAVE
Join us at the WeDC House for an evening of collaboration, conversation and connectivity addressing the pipeline for diverse and inclusive coding, coworking, capital and wealth creating ecosystem during SXSW interactive. This event will honor the top 10 blackinnovators of 2014 and provide fundraising funds for Code School Scholarship. The scholarship will be awarded to a student enrolled at a Washington, DC university.

Innovators Dinner presented by OHUB Atlanta, WeDC House, Washington DC Economic Partnership

March 14-15 | #DivHack a Diversity Hackathon at SXSW Interactive | Huston-Tilloston
An event for 50 amazing high school and college students to come together and create an app that could possibly change the world.  Three tracks are chosen: Justice, Health, or Education.  All of which are imperative to the youth of America today.

Don't know how to code? Not a problem!  It will take a variety of skill sets to bring an app together.  This is an all-inclusive event that looks forward to getting representation from those not always seen at the forefront of technology. Mentor and student applications are being accepted- deadline March 7th.

March 15 | 2-6p | "We Luv the 90's" Day Party | Lux
After a long weekend of panel content and professional networking, we provide you a space to wind down. Join us at Lux on West Sixth Street for the final event of the MVMT50 experience. You'll enjoy complimentary bites, libations and the sounds of DJ Cut Creator. This one's for the #beautifulpeople - We'll see you there.

 Movement 50 is an initiative that grew out of a concern expressed by African-Americans living in Austin to promote more diversity during the SXSW conferences.
